Why Some Jewelry and Rings Discolor

Whether you are shopping for engagement rings or earrings, this is something you will want to know.  If you’ve ever bought cheap jewelry that leaves a yellow spot on your skin I’m sure you’ve wondered what the cause is. Most Often ; your skin is reacting to basic metals to people who wears inexpensive jewelry. This occurs to some people more quickly than others; though, because everyone’s skin is different.

Even the more expensive jewelry can turn people’s skin green; reason being it’s not one hundred percent pure; regardless of cost. Platinum hardly ever reacts with skin so you shouldn’t have to worry if you own platinum jewelry.
If you have gold jewelry and want to stop it from making you look green be sure its not gold plated or gold rinsed jewelry – the base metal might be cheap and then covered with gold that can rub off. For ‘real’ gold jewelry spending the extra on 18 karat gold will lower your chances of green skin. Jewelry made from copper will react with skin and its hard to stop it.

Try to avoid sweating in your jewelry it can amplify the skin to metal reaction and also ask your jeweler if there is anything that he can coat the jewelry item with – to keep your skin from reacting. If you do this you can keep wearing your base metal jewelry without worry. Don’t forget~ your skin turning green is a harmless reaction. It’s just a skin reaction and not allergies. Allergies (such as those to nickel) causes reddening and also will make your skin inflamed and itchy. It’s not anything like the green skin that you see from jewelry.
If you do get an allergy to a piece of jewelry stop wearing that right away. If it’s only turning your skin green you can certainly continue wearing it as long as you like you may just have to clean your skin more so it doesn’t look bad.

Truth be told coating your jewelry is probably the answer.
